Trackball

Just realised it's been at least a week since my last update so I snapped a quick shot of my trusty track ball for today's pad.
Happy new year everyone!

Kung Fu

My 2 year old daughter doing a high kick :D
Actually she's just showing me the "snow" on her shoes after playing in the man-made snow at one of the local malls.
FYI, the snow is actually made up of soap bubbles blown out through some high pressure jets...not the real thing but better then nothing for us snow-less chaps out in the tropics.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Ho ho ho ... Merry Christmas to everyone.
And go out and take more pictures k...

East Coast Park

Shot through an IR filter and desaturated afterwards.

Took this during a trip to the beach for my daughter to play after being cooped up for a week, down with stomach flu. She had a great time, unfortunately she got struck by another bout of vomiting just as we were going for dinner. Good thing we were only 5 minutes from home.

Oh well, at least she had a great time at the beach.

Sentosa

We had our year end party at sentosa. The weather was staring to get pretty nasty just as we wrapped up the party.

The Band

Came across this band yseterday after dinner with my wifey. The special thing about this photo is that it's taken by my wife. Post processing still by me. Merry Christmas...ho ho ho

Harowe Berroon

My daughter again. Taken at the Clown-Around-The-World Festival. She couldn't quite sit through the whole show so we brought her out to the lobby where she got really excited with the balloon figures.

Also a good lesson to not being lazy and fix on your external (bounced) flash. Too bad about the nasty shadows.

Everyone should have a copy of this

Title: How to Good-Bye Depression: If You Constrict Anus 100 Times Everyday. Malarkey? or Effective Way?

This world just gets freakier and freakier...read the editorial review

Quote from the book.. "Besides shooting out a big blank from your buttock, you can feel as if your root chakra leaked sweet hot mucus."

And the truely scary part... Customers who bought this item also bought these items: # The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (Platinum Series Special Extended Edition) DVD ~ Elijah Wood

Time for me to hide my copy of LOTR2...wouldn't want to be mistaken as an Anus constrictor.

Yesterday's lunch. Black pepper fried beef. Mmmmm

Train Station Light Trails

Taken from the front of the MRT (local equivalent of the Subway/Metro et al). Taken as the train approached the underground station.

11/21/2004

Came across this bunch of fella hanging around the lift lobby of my house. Thought they were ants at first but on second look, they don't look like any ants I've seen. Quite curious about the bunch of stuff in middle in a straight line too.. eggs?

Anyone can do me a favour and let me know if you know what these are?

TIA

Bowling

Spent the afternoon at the bowling alley where my wifey's company was having a staff event.

Lighting was horrible so I was shooting at 2.8 mostly which resulted in not enough dof for many of the shots so I decided to make the above instead.

Arghhhh my eyes....

After last week's unfortunate encounter with the bbt (big black tutu), I had another unfortunate encounter again yesterday at the gym.

Lets just say guys should NOT be wearing tight white body masters shorts/tights that shows up a bbb (big black bulge) in front. They should also really really try to avoid perspiring while dressed like this. It makes the material turn translucent... eeewwwwww.

Excuse me while I go gouge out my eyes.

Next big DJ?

The next big DJ? Actually the upstairs neighbours were doing some drilling and scared her, so we put the earphones on her and she calmed down. Got to get a smaller pair though.

The words on her t-shirt were a coincidence.

Christmas decorations are already up @ downtown east.

1 become 2

Got my microdrive back from IBM (now taken over as hitachi storage). Got a new 2gb Hitachi microdrive in replacement. Yeah.

Blue Sky

A moment of blue sky that occured between a thunderstorm and a blazing hot afternoon.

Accidentally shot in ISO 1600 so I had to run the image though Noiseware first.

Shady Spot

Everyone looking for a shady spot under the tree?

P.S. No motivation to shoot since my Microdrive died on me. Still waiting for it to come back from the shop.

Important DIscovery

I just made an important discovery today. I'm having a nice cup of after lunch green tea (teabag) when I look down and.. *gasp* ... it's not green! What gives? Or is the inside of my cup turning brown? Update: Just realised it's green when you first pout in the teabag.. it becomes brown later :P

Neglected blog

I think my blog is feeling neglected so I'll be cross posting some of my PAD posts over here sporadically (i.e. when I'm not too lazy).

Starting off today with

Gotham city anyone? I can almost imagine the bat signal coming off the roof.

SFLM and other odd tots

Had an extended discussion in the office yesterday after I mentioned the term SFLM. FYI, SFLM stands for see-fatt-long (which means a-hole in cantonese) mow (hair)... it's a long running joke. Anyway, one thing lead to another and I found out the a merkin is actually a pubic wig. I'm like... what??? these things actually exist??? Well, apparently they do and now I know. Kinda odd considering the amount of ads in the papers, magazines etc nowadays advertising brazailian wazes and what have you to take it off.. and once upon a time, people wanted to put it on. Go figure. P.S. maybe someone can start a full service salon where they take it off... then offer you a wig so that it looks like you have it on! Genius!

Pad

Thanks to some *peer pressure* at work :P, I finally signed up a pbase account and started a photo a day (well, I'll try for a photo a week at least) project as well. My galleries can be viewed at http://www.pbase.com/wantunn

In a badddddd place

Today we dropped by funan during luch as a collegue had to get some inkjet paper. Let me tell you that is a baadddd baadddd place.. almost as bad as Sim Lim Square... even worse when you consider that it's next to peninsula plaza with cathay photo, eastgear etc. Anyway, a short short walk through some of the shops have left me with a craving (not necessarily a need though) for the following: 1. Graphics tablet. The one I'd been eyeing (Wacom graphire 3) seems to have dropped about $40 to just over a hundred bucks now. 2. Canon's new pixma printers. As the ad says, pro features at low prices. I'll probably get this when the ink in my current bubblejet printer (also a canon) runs out. The ipx3000/4000 looks tempting. 3. Creative Soundblaster Live USB. No idea why this is tempting me.. maybe because it's fairly cheap.. about $89 I think. 4. USB Bluetooth thingy.. so that I can surf the web using my ipaq via bluetooth .. no idea why anyone would want to do such a thing though. 5. A Chai Latte... cos as my collegue said.. "if you gotta buy something, buy me a chai latte" :P Good thing we didn't go to cp.

Lense situation rectified

After much thought and helpful(?) advice from collegues, I finally decided against getting the new 17-85 IS EFS lens from canon. Couldn't justify spending >$1k for a lens thats not pro-grade glass and only works on 2 canon bodies at the moment. Therefore I picked up one of the (many) 2nd hand 28-135 IS lenses instead for about half of what I would have had to pay for the other lens. Condition was great and now I just have to get a wide angle to cover all focal lengths. On a seperate note.. got a craving for luncheon meat these few days... l.u.n.c.h.e.o.n. m.e.a.t.......

Lenseless in Singapore

Ok, I've gone and done it. I sold off all my lenses in a sudden flurry of "I need to consolidate my stuff so that I can carry less". I am now left with the 80-200/2.8 (too big to carry around) and a slightly wonky 50/1.8 (throws up an Err 99 on my 300D every third shot...according to Canon Singapore, it'll cost me $60-70 to fix it. Not sure if it's worthwhile for a $140 when new lens). So now I suddenly find myself with no lens that I can carry around comfortably and trying to decide what to get in replacement. You've heard of compulsive buying. Bet this is the first time you've heard of compulsive selling huh.

Lazzzzzyyyy

Just realised that my picyutes from HK are still IN-THE-CAMERA. It's been like nearly a month .. how lazy is that :P

8/19/2004

Moving on....

Last 2 days at my current workplace. Doing some packing up and handing over.....boringg..... On a brighter note. Will be going to HK next week...mmmm....dim summm Too bad couldn't scare up more time as the wife has to start work soon. Otherwise could have gone for a longer (and further) trip.

Korea Pics Part 3

Focusing on the 300D seems to be quite a bit of hit and miss. Noticed that quite a few of the pics are either out of focus or focused somewhere other then the focus point selected. hmm.... Another museum...this is the gift from Singapore to Korea (dunno for what). Is it me or does it look a lot like the pasar malam auction kind ha? This type of tree seems fairly common in Korea. But I couldn't be bothered to find out what it was anyway. What else did you expect to find in Korea? The cars were mostly Hyundai, Kia, Daewoo, Saangyong etc. There was the occasional continental make as well, saw a few Mercs, BMWs, Peugeot, Chrysler et al. Did not see a single jap car though. Lotte Theme Park (they pronounce it loh-teh). One of the amusement parks. There is another (bigger) one there if I'm not mistaken. Started by the Lotte company that originally dealt in Chewing Gum. Ironically, Chewing gum is not sold in the park to keep the place clean. Another view of the outdoor area of the theme park. The indoor area is actually bigger. There's a parade in the park everyday at 8pm. Anti-aircraft gun (I think) at the war museum.

More pics from Korea

A building used as a detention/execution etc ete centre when the North captured the South in the 40s(?) The sign explains it all. Those are REAL bullet holes in the wall Another view of the building. I think it's about one of the few times there was actually a blue sky while I was there. Photographer in action. It's a really long climb down to where he is. Near the hotspring area where we stayed the night after visiting the DMZ The view from a rest stop while heading back to the city. I think this is supposed to be the white tiger (bai2 hu3) mountain? more to come...

Pics from Korea Trip

As mentioned, here are some of the pics taken in Korea (or corea according to the tour guide ) Fertility Idol.  Hmm.. why is she touching it ;) Some herbs and stuff on display at one of the museums One of the many palaces in Seoul Where the China envoy stayed in olden times (when they controlled Korea) Pillars in the palace A typical street in Seoul.  Most of the cables seem to be above ground more....

Back in SG (thank goodness)

Finally made it back to SG from KR. Lessons learnt this trip:
  1. Don't take the redeye flight and start the tour the next morning after touchdown if you're not the type to sleep on planes.
  2. Don't take a rush-rush 5 day (well, actually just 4) 3 night tour that makes you wake up at 6am (thats 5 am SG time) everyday
  3. Don't bring your 80-200/F2.8 when you're going on an extended sightseeing tour.  Especially if you're using a sling bag rather then a backpack
  4. Bring a compact camera.  It's no fun going shopping with your wife and carrying a few kilos of equipment and walking around for a few hours.
  5. No 3 is especially relevant if you're taking a 30 minute climb (one way) into some god forsaken ^%#&%*@ tunnel dug by north koreans to invade the south.
  6. Don't take the 5pm flight and touch down 11pm in SG
  7. Especially take note not to arrange to start work the next day! Hopefully the large double shot expresso from McCafe works it's magic.
  8. P.S. Don't take a haunted hotel room (according to wife) if you can help it :P

Bitching aside I'll upload some of the photo's later when I'm more awake.

7/21/2004

Going to Korea!

Yeah... Finally managed to book a tour to Korea...will be there from Sat till Tues. Any advise from the folks who have been there before? Heard this is the worst time of the year to be there but what the hey.. any break is better then no break. And best of all, different telco network :D

7/16/2004

The weekend's here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday finally rolled around. There's a shining light on the horizon again

7/14/2004

Thanks for the Lunch

Had a seminar in town today so took the opp to meet Mr Glutton for lunch. Finally had a look at his new D70. Will I (or at least my car) show up on his Photo Of The Day? We'll have to wait and see. Meanwhile, it's back to the office for another half a day of haizzzz.......

A new ride

Yep, finally got rid of my 323. Last servicing I was told suspension is wearing as well as brakes. Took delivery of my new family friendly ride on thursday. Btw, the images are an example of what different focal lengths do to your pictures :P

7/01/2004

What are you doing today?

Met up with my insurance agent yesterday and he was asking me if I'm looking to start my own business. After that, it got me thinking, when IS a good time for this? When I have time to spare? Money to spare? A good idea? Or is it simply a case of biting the bullet and : Making the time; finding ways to come up with the money; brinstorming for a good idea? Maybe the safe route would be to do something on the side but will that really take off or will it just be pocket change in the end? Is it really that difficult to start a business now? The paper seems to be full of people who have started up and even listed their companies by the time they hit 30. Of course there could be heaps more who have failed but don't appear in the papers. Anyone has personal experience in this area?

A new beginning

Hmm..feeling particularly sianz this morning so thought I'd try out something here...hopefully I'll be able to post some updates here now and again....
